About

A personal journey through Japanese language learning

Hey, I'm Kasper

The Origin Story

This site started as a simple note-taking space for my Japanese learning journey. What began as scattered observations while working through textbooks eventually grew into something more structured and hopefully more useful.

I was learning Japanese primarily through podcasts and textbooks, but found myself constantly switching between apps, notebooks, and browser tabs. I wanted everything in one place where I could easily reference grammar points, review examples, and track my progress through the material.

So I built this site. It's personal, a bit rough around the edges, and designed exactly the way I needed it to be.

What You'll Find Here

Podcast Learning Tool

I created a small interactive app that helps me learn from Japanese podcast transcripts more effectively. Instead of just passively listening, I can now break down sentences, look up vocabulary in context, and really digest what I'm hearing.

The app lets me work through transcripts at my own pace, highlighting key grammar patterns and vocabulary that align with what I'm studying in my textbooks.

Textbook Notes

I've compiled notes from my journey through:

Genki 1 & 2 - The foundational grammar and vocabulary that got me started
Tobira - Intermediate content that pushed my understanding further

These aren't comprehensive replacements for the textbooks themselves, but rather my personal reference guide highlighting the concepts I found most important or tricky.

Why Share This?

Learning in Public

Honestly, this site was built for me first. But I realized that if these tools and notes help me, they might help someone else on a similar path.

Japanese learning resources are everywhere, but sometimes you just need something straightforward, organized, and built by someone who's actually in the trenches with you. That's what I'm trying to create here.

If you find something useful, great. If you spot mistakes or have suggestions, even better. We're all learning together.

The Journey Continues

Always Building

This site is a work in progress, just like my Japanese. I'm constantly adding new notes, refining the tools, and finding better ways to organize everything.

Thanks for stopping by, and 頑張ってね (ganbattes ne) with your own studies!
